Rachel Ondang is Southeast Asian woman, that was born and raised in Metro Vancouver, Canada. She absolutely LOVES animation, cats and hoarding an obscene amount of cute plushies and enamel pins!

Rachel has always loved watching early morning cartoons with her grandfather– and that love never went away. As she got older, she added more to her collection, branching into Japanese anime, then into foreign animation from other countries, as well as global student thesis films and annual showcases. Her dream is to build a connection through a relatable character and get a role in an animated series.

 

Rachel used to work as a switchboard receptionist at a few places, which helped her with articulation and clarity. Although voice over was always sitting in the back of her mind, several clients had expressed how much they enjoyed speaking with her. It gave her the confidence to strive towards her goal. She also studied graphic design for an associate certificate. Rachel loves taking on creative works that have PASSION!

 

Her other interests include sewing and crafting, which translated well into making cosplay as a hobby. Rachel has also picked up violin recently and enjoys studying theory. She also finds that it helps with breath work for voice over. The best place to relax is out in nature, whether it’s a daily walk through an urban park, hiking or camping in the beautiful lands of BC, or exploring brand new places in her local area. If there is one thing that she would like to improve with, it’s cooking. Though she’s not the best at it, she keeps on trying!

As part of the 2SLGBTQI+ community, she wants to create a safe and comfortable environment for everyone.

She also supports Anti-AI for artists of all sorts, choosing local artists and educating herself to avoid  work generated with AI.
